I know I am late to this celery juice diet craze but I missed it somehow, so I have been researching it over the last couple of days. There are some really interesting stories and claims out there on the web and social media. I’ll be explaining which juicer made the best celery juice and my experience drinking pure celery juice for the first time!
I was only planning on writing one post but I learned so much from my experience I think I will write some more detailed posts exclusively about the claimed benefits of drinking this juice daily.
Pure Celery Juicer recipe
I’ve got to start by saying I’m not the biggest lover of celery but the hype online made me give juicing it ago. Well folks, it wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t make it again out of choice.
As I said this was my first-time juicing celery juice by itself, it tastes as you’d expect but even stronger and earthier. I know there are a lot of celery juice challenges out there claiming to have all these miracle benefits but having tried it, you’d have to pay me to drink that pure celery juice for 30 days straight!
Yup, you guessed it!
I used a small bunch of celery, it was enough to fill a 16oz glass just. Make sure to give it a good wash especially if it is not organic.
When using a masticating juicer just place the celery in whole and push it down.
So, what was the best masticating juicer for celery? I found that my Aicok produced nearly the same amount of juice as my Omega J8006 but with a little more foam. I will explain how to make celery juice in a blender in my next recipe.
My best celery juice recipe
As I mentioned above, pure celery juice just isn’t for me so I decided to add in some other sweeter flavors would help it become more palatable for me. After all, I do want to see these miracle benefits of celery juice in action!
After researching which ingredients complement celery in a juice I came up with the below recipe which in my opinion is a much smoother, satisfying tasting juice.
- 1 medium bunch of *organic celery (cut the leaves off and add to your compost, this will reduce the bitterness of the drink)
- 1 apple
- Half a cucumber
- A squeeze of fresh lemon juice
How to make celery using a masticating juicer
- Remove leaves from celery
- Wash celery, apple, and cucumber
- Cut cucumber in half
- Add cucumber then celery to the juicer followed by the apple
- Add some ice and enjoy!
How to make celery juice in a blender
- Follow steps 1 and 2 above
- Cut cucumber, apple, and celery into bite sizes pieces
- Place into your blender, we rate the Ninja blender
- Blend until there are no chunks left
- Pour over a nut milk bag into a bowl then squeeze the excess juice from the nut milk bag
- Add lots of ice and enjoy
As you know, making celery juice in a blender is the same as making it in the masticating juicer less the benefits. You will lose some of that nutrition from the heat of the hot spinning blade.
*As mentioned on my ginger juice recipe post Celery is on the dirty dozen list which presents the 12 most contaminated by pesticide fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, celery features as no 11 on this list before potatoes would you believe. So, make sure you wash your celery thoroughly or buy organic.
How long does celery juice last?
Try drinking it as soon as it has been made, if you cannot place in a mason jar, and place in the fridge. How long can celery juice last in the fridge? 24 hours
When is the best time to drink celery juice?
Experts say that you should drink celery juice first thing in the morning. I tried drinking celery juice on empty stomach to gain the most from this juice.
What is the best juicer for celery juice?
The overall best kind of juicer for celery is the masticating type because the juice stays cool and keeps all of those nutrients intact.
In my opinion, I would say the best inexpensive juicer for celery is the Aicok AMR521 But the best masticating juicer for celery is the Omega J8006 but it does cost nearly 3 times as much as the Aicok AMR521.
Hopefully, this and the following posts can become somewhat of a celery juice 101 for all of us.
