How to clean the filters
The filter screen of your masticating juicer is designed to prevent pulp and other bits from escaping into your finished juice. This means that the pulp and fibers are pressed against the screen, forcing juice out through small spaces. These small spaces can be difficult to clean, risking buildup of old fruit and allowing bacteria to flourish.
As such, it’s important to clean the filters of you cold press juicer quickly and carefully, making sure you get to them before the juice has time to dry. As soon as you remove the screen from the juicing assembly and run warm water over it. Wipe it carefully with a soft brush as a high priority part of the cleaning process, and ensure that all traces of fruit pulp and juice have been removed from the holes.
How to use special brushes
Juicers have a large number of small, difficult to reach corners which can be very difficult to clean. Fortunately, there is a range of brushes available that can make this far easier. Anything from a specialist juicer cleaning brush to a toothbrush or nail brush will work fine, enabling you to get into the difficult corners and ensure that every part of your juicing machine is kept fresh and clean at all times.
Extra stubborn residue
Stubborn residues can prove a major problem; if fruit juices are left to dry, they can become hard and sticky, and exceptionally difficult to remove during normal cleaning processes. This residue can function as a breeding ground for bacteria, providing health risks as well as looking unsightly.
The best way to deal with this problem is to make sure every part of your juicer is cleaned effectively and rapidly before any residue builds up, but if that can’t be achieved, then there are ways to fix the problem. First, soak the stubborn components in hot, soapy water for several minutes. Then, scrub vigorously with a brush such as a toothbrush. After this, rinse the components in clean water and inspect them carefully to make sure you’ve removed the last of the residue. Once this has been done, the problem should be solved, and you should be able to dry and reinstall the components.
