Hello, and welcome back today I am going to be talking about my new spinach juice recipe and the benefits and nutrients spinach contains. I will also answer the question; can you freeze spinach? As I find no matter how hard I try when I buy my spinach from the store in a bag it always starts spoiling in the fridge once opened. Anyway back to the task in hand Todd, let’s have a look at this delicious recipe.
Spinach juice recipe
I love the color of this green juice, pineapple, and spinach yum!
Ingredients
- 1 packed cup of washed spinach (make sure you wash thoroughly)
- 2 cups of pineapple
- 1 cup of cut-up apple
- Half inch square piece of ginger peeled (add more if you like the stronger taste)
Instructions
- Place the above ingredients into your masticating juicer in the following order; ginger, spinach, apple, pineapple. This will help the juicer get the most out of your spinach by pushing it through the machine with the other ingredients
- Pour into a glass of ice and stir

The best time to drink spinach juice is first thing in the morning. I like to do this then follow my spinach green juice my morning carb meal such as overnight oats. So, I am getting a dose of vitamins followed by a slow-release energy carbohydrate which keeps me satisfied until lunchtime!
How to juice spinach in a juicer
If you are using a blender type juicer follow the same method, not worrying about what order the ingredients go in. Once blended you may have to pour the juice over a nut milk bag into a bowl then squeeze the excess juice from the nut milk bag. Can you juice spinach? Yes, you can. If you want to save on ice you can use frozen spinach and I’ll explain how to freeze spinach next. Enjoy your pineapple spinach juice!
Can you freeze spinach?
Freezing spinach sounds a little weird at first. But, it’s easy if you’re going to use it within 6 months. If you want to keep it in the freezer for more than 6 months (I really can’t see why you would want to) blanching is the way forward. What is blanching? Blanching is when you place an item in hot boiling water for 2 minutes then placing the item in some cold water for a minute.
Want to know how to freeze spinach a quicker way?
Make sure to wash your spinach then place all of it in a blender with a couple of tablespoons of water, the heat from the centrifugal juicer will have the same effect as blanching and then you can pour the liquid into an ice cube tray and that’s how to freeze spinach for smoothies.
Spinach juice benefits
Now that you’ve made you delicious spinach juice lets learn about the many spinach juice benefits.
Now, ask any 90s kid if they know what spinach is and they will say yes! ‘Popeye the Sailor Man…’ Damn it I can’t get that theme tune out of my head now. *Googles ‘Did Popeye increase spinach sales.’ Anyway, this leafy vegetable is well known versatile cooking ingredient but isn’t as famous in the juicing world. Until Popeye 2 comes out. Seriously that’s the last time I will mention that sailor. Spinach is super rich in vitamins A, C and K, magnesium, iron… and manganese. Let us dive into (man overboard) Todd’s top spinach juice benefits.
Repels bacteria and viruses
Spinach is full of Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps our skin and mucous membranes to prevent a majority of bacteria and viruses from entering the body. It does this by providing the building blocks to keep your hair moisturized and grow all bodily tissues including hair and skin. So eating lots of spinach makes your body a better fighter against infections and hair loss. That’s why lots of people search for a spinach juice recipe for glowing skin.
Protects your eyesight and immune system
Spinach contains beta carotene, zeaxanthin, lutein, and chlorophyll. Which have been proven to improve eyesight and boost your immune system. The body stores Lutein and zeaxanthin in the macula, which is part of the retina that stops the sun damaging your eyesight. Lutein and zeaxanthin do this by absorbing the damaging blue light that deteriorates eyes over the long and short term.
Strengthens your bones
As mentioned spinach is full of Vitamin K. Ever heard of Osteocalc protein? Neither had I. Vitamin K increases the production of Ostecocalc which stabilizes calcium in the bones. Therefore, ensuring your bones are kept in the best condition possible
Promotes heart health
Now I know I talk about Vitamin C a lot but here I go again. Vitamin C is not only good for our immune system it protects us from eye disease, prenatal health issues, and cardiovascular diseases. The Lutein we previously mentioned has been shown to decrease the thickening of arteries, therefore reducing the risk of heart attacks!
Keeps you energized for longer
Spinach green juice contains levels of magnesium and folate which have been proven to help the creation and reuse of energy in the body. Making you go further for longer.
Conclusions
So, is spinach juice good for you? Hell yes. I not only use it in juicing but in cooking all the time as it shrinks down to almost nothing and I love knowing you’re getting all that goodness every time.
